The rapid increase in mobile phone use in young people has generated concern about possible health effects of exposure to radiofrequency (RF) and extremely low frequency (ELF) electromagnetic fields (EMF). MOBI-Kids, a multinational case–control study, investigates the potential effects of childhood and adolescent exposure to EMF from mobile communications technologies on brain tumor risk in 14 countries. We ask two questions: what are the factors that influence researchers’ public engagement activities (PEA)? And what are the impacts of these activities on the researcher? After presenting a historical overview of PEA, we analyze 20 surveys carried out between 1967 and 2014. We identify some global trends: PEA is generally positively perceived, researcher’s engagement is occasional but robust. Besides those trends some differences appear between studies based on theoretical models and empirical studies: the latter report complaints such as lack of time or lack of recognition, whereas theoretical-based ones challenge these statements.To further explore our two questions, we used two approache…

Abstract This paper deals with H ∞ static output-feedback control design with constrained information for offshore wind turbines. Constrained information indicates that a special zero–nonzero structure is imposed on the static output-feedback gain matrix. A practical use of such an approach is to design a decentralized controller for a wind turbine. This will also benefit the controller in such a way that it is more tolerant to sensor failure. The pervasive use of mobile information technologies brings new patterns of media usage, but also challenges to the measurement of media exposure. This study carries out a bibliometric evaluation through methodological quality indicators of the scientific production published during the triennium of 2014 to 2016 in the seven Spanish journals of education indexed in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR): Revista de Psicodidáctica; Comunicar; Revista de Educación; Educación XX1; Enseñanza de las Ciencias, Revista Española de Pedagogía; y Porta Linguarum. Through a bibliometric-descriptive methodology, a sample of articles that totals 479 and selected through a non-probabilistic sampling of deliberate type.
